VacuStep: How it Works
June 18, 2008
Hey! Since I always get a lot of questions about how Vacu Step works I went searching for a good explanation that would really help you understand. After some web surfing, I found this on another website dedicated to VacuStep. I hope it helps answer some of your questions.
How It Works
During typical aerobic/cardio exercise, the body temperature decreases in the stomach, buttocks, hips and thighs because blood typically flows away from the skin and into muscles. Blood must be available to transport the required fat for the muscles to burn as energy. When you are able to increase the blood circulation in the lower body while doing a low impact workout, you increase the chances for fat to be transported to the muscles to burn as energy.
The Vacu Step® is designed to incorporate the necessary combination of muscle movement and gentle vacuum technology to help improve blood circulation in the stomach, legs, hips and buttocks.
Vacu Step® is designed to use reduced partial air pressure with the gentle vacuum technology to encourage the blood to flow more effectively to the outer layers of skin tissue. By increasing the blood circulation while using the Vacu Step ®, so too are the nutrients, amino acids, and oxygen delivered throughout the lower body and into the cells — helping to fuel metabolism.
The movement of the elliptical trainer helps to keep the heart rate in the optimal fat-burning zone. The heart rate is monitored, allowing you to maintain a rate that encourages burning fat as prime fuel as opposed to carbohydrates. Pulse rate can be controlled with the rate of workout on the machine. To illustrate: A woman who is 36 years of age should stick to an optimal heart rate between110 to 128 while on the machine. A woman who is 55 years of age will be asked to keep her heart rate in a range of 99 to 116. This is typically a lower range than in other forms of aerobic exercise like running or cycling. There is a certain amount of oxygen that your body needs in order to start burning fat and the only way for you to measure the amount needed for your own body is to keep up with your target heart rate during exercise.
In addition, the vacuum encourages an optimal blood circulation in the space between the cells.
The result is a possible reduction in circumference of stomach, hips, legs and buttocks as the cells release the surplus fat and toxins.
